Amazon’s .7 Billion Takeover of iRobot Being Reviewed by US FTC: Report

Amazon introduced earlier this month that it’ll purchase the makers of Roomba vacuum cleaners iRobot in a deal value $1.7 billion (roughly Rs. 13,500 crore). It’s now being reported that this deal is being reviewed by the US Federal Commerce Fee (FTC) for violating antitrust legal guidelines. Each firms are understood to be getting ready for a probably prolonged investigation. Amazon is already the curiosity of a wide-ranging monopolisation probe by the FTC. Moreover, the antitrust watchdog is investigating whether or not this deal would illegally increase Amazon’s market share within the linked machine market and the retail market.

Based on a report by Politico, Amazon’s takeover of the Roomba vacuum cleaner maker iRobot is being reviewed by the US FTC for being in violation of the nation’s antitrust legal guidelines.

It’s believed that the antitrust watchdog is investigating whether or not this deal will give Amazon an unfair benefit within the linked machine market and the retail market.

The FTC is reportedly making an attempt to find out the impression of this deal on Amazon’s growing catalogue of good units just like the Ring safety cameras.

The antitrust watchdog is anxious with whether or not information being generated from customers’ houses by iRobot’s Roomba vacuum cleaners might be used to achieve an unfair benefit over different retailers. As per the report, Amazon and iRobot might be going through a prolonged and arduous investigation.
